Your Common Access Card has multiple certificates on it. The certificates used to access sites such as the AKO/DKO portal and the certificate used to access your computer are actually different. You might receive a message stating your certificates have been revoked when attempting to log in to AKO/DKO. If you receive this message then you will need to obtain a new CAC.
Certificates might be revoked for any number of reasons including accidental revocation. Certificate revocation is centrally managed and outside of AKO/DKO’s influence. Certificates can not be re-enabled once revoked which is why you are required to obtain a new CAC if this occurs and may happen prior to the card’s expiration date.
You can visit the RAPIDS Locator to find your closest badging office where you can obtain a replacement CAC.
