MAC Mail Configuration

How do I configure my AKO/DKO webmail to MAC Mail?

The following instructions will assist you with setting up your AKO/DKO mail account with Mac Mail.

1. Launch “Mail” application.
2. Click on ‘Mail’ located at the top left of the screen.
3. Click on ‘Preferences…’.
4. Click on ‘Accounts’.
5. Click on the ‘+’ (Plus Sign) located at the bottom left of the page.
6. Select “IMAP” for the account type.
7. Type in “AKO/DKO Webmail” for the account description.
8. Enter your name into the “Full Name” field.
9. Enter your AKO/DKO email address into the “Email Address field.
10. Click on ‘Continue’.
11. For the “Incoming Mail Server” field, enter: imap.us.army.mil
12. Enter your AKO/DKO username for the “User Name” field.
13. Enter your AKO/DKO password for the “Password” field.
14. Click on ‘Continue’.  Mac Mail will attempt to connect to imap.us.army.mil.  It should succeed.
15. For the “Outgoing Mail Server” field, enter mailrouter.us.army.mil
16. Check the box next to “Use Authentication”.
17. Enter your AKO/DKO username for the “User Name” field.
18. Enter your AKO/DKO password for the “Password” field.
19. Click on ‘Continue’.  Mac Mail will attempt to connect to mailrouter.us.army.mil.  It should fail.
20. Once the connection fails, click on ‘Continue’.
21. Check the box next to “Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL).
22. Select “Password” for the “Authentication” field.
23. The next screen will display your mail settings.
24. Click on ‘Continue’.
25. Click on ‘Done’.

Mac Mail should auto detect what the correct port numbers are needed to connect to the AKO/DKO webmail.  Once you click on ‘Done’, you should be able to use the AKO/DKO webmail with MAC Mail.  If you need further assistance with configuring MAC mail with your AKO/DKO account, contact your MAC support team.
