AKO Webmail 2.0 – web.mail.mil

What can you tell me about Webmail 2.0? Where can I go to learn how to use all of the features of Webmail 2.0?

What are the new features of Webmail 2.0?

The new Webmail client features a fully integrated AKO IM client including presence awareness, improved secure signing and encrypting capability, and a quick and easy AKO directory search, as well as a rich, desktop-like interface for e-mail and calendar, including the ability to “drag and drop” e-mail messages between folders. This can be accessed by going to web.mail.mil.

Where can I access Webmail 2.0?

You can launch the new Webmail client by clicking the ‘WEBMAIL‘  button on the right side of the AKO/DKO Home page. Or you can access by clicking the link below:

https://webmail2.us.army.mil/

I tried to login directly to Webmail 2.0 and it says I need to enroll in KBA. Is that true?

YES. If you go straight to the webmail link and you have not enrolled in KBA, the portal will require KBA enrollment.

I’m forward deployed, and Webmail 2 is taking too long to load and operate. What can I do?

You can use Webmail Lite. Webmail Lite is a low-bandwidth version of the new portal email client. It retains all the functionality of Webmail 2 except for Calendar and IM. As a forward deployed user, Webmail Lite should be your default email client. If that’s not the case, there is a Webmail Lite link on the left side of the AKO home page, or you can access it by clicking the link below:

*all of the Flash videos will work with Flash version 7 and beyond. They will also work with most versions of most web-browsers (such as IE), as web-browsers are designed to play Flash .SWF files. However, as a general rule, you should always keep both your Flash and web-browser up-to-date.

    Can you offer me some assistance? I’ve been trying to log into my AKO/webmail thru the various links, and still get this type of response;

    Secure Connection Failed
    An error occurred during a connection to akocert.us.army.mil.

    SSL peer cannot verify your certificate.

    (Error code: ssl_error_bad_cert_alert)
    The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
    Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem. Alternatively, use the command found in the help menu to report this broken site.

    I follow all the suggestions on making sure different TTL/SSL security settings are active in IE10, same with Firefox.

    Google Chrome works the best for me (just installed).. It let’s me in my AKO webmail, but when I select Enterprise mail it says;
    The page cannot be displayed

    Explanation: There is a problem with the page you are trying to reach and it cannot be displayed.
    Try the following:

    Refresh page: Search for the page again by clicking the Refresh button. The timeout may have occurred due to Internet congestion.
    Check spelling: Check that you typed the Web page address correctly. The address may have been mistyped.
    Access from a link: If there is a link to the page you are looking for, try accessing the page from that link.
    Technical Information (for support personnel)
